Do I need to havea guitar for the lessons?Definatelly YES. You need to have a guitar for many reasons: The guitar is a personal instrument in which is of lots importance the touch of it (dimensions of the fretboard, material, widness of the neck wood, etc... Because of this it is not good do the lesson with a guitar you don't know and don't play regularly with. Another important reason is that it makes not sense if you take guitar lessons but then you have not an instrument for yourself for practicing at home what you worked during the lessons.
-
Can I have a guitar lesson anytime I want or is there a regularity required? All the students must have a scheduled programed, which means that has to have a regularity in the lessons (weekly or each two weeks, as prefered) but It is not possible to come once in a while to the lessons because it loses all the meaning of what learning an instrument is. To have progress and develop as a player and musician one needs weekly training and lots of practicing, if one of both is missing the the process of learning is blocked, therefore it is important to have from the student enough practicing and from the teacher a good and regular coaching of the student's developement.
-
Do I need to buy any book for the lessons? As mentioned in the 'Lessons' section: No, you don't need to buy any book of music. I will provide the student with all the scores, documents, exercisses needed and for FREE unless the student wishes to have the book for him/herself.
-

We even have some members who are well into their 80’s and are making great progress. All are welcome here at Merce Font Guitar Academy.
-
When and how are the payments of the lessons done? You can go two ways: 1) You can buy single lessons anytime you want. You fill in all the details, complete the one time payment online througy the service that you prefer (Paypal, Stripe, iDeal, etc...) and you are all set until the day of your lesson! 2) You can subscribe to a membership to have more than one lesson with Merce and take advantage of the reduced price as well as all the other amazing features and advantages!

Which kind of guitar should I buy as my first guitar? It depends basically what you wish to play. If you want to learn the top solos and riffs of your favourite band guitarrist then you should go for an electric guitar. For a beginner I personally don't recommend so much the acoustic (or electroacoustic) guitars because are very hard to start with for the hands because are the kind of guitar with most tension at the neck and the steel strings make it even more painful for right and left hands... On the other hand, if you like to play chords and sing along, fingerpicking or classical pieces then you should think of buying a Classical (also called Spanish) Guitar.
-
What do I need for starting the lessons? For getting started and book for your first lesson you only need to have a guitar (doesn't matter which kind of guitar) and lots of enthusiasm for learning and discover tones of new music!
-
I am a beginner, is this site for me?"Yes, absolutely! We will start learning music from the very, very beginning. You will learn how to hold the guitar, how to tune, and also how to read music without any prior knowledge.
-
I am coming to guitar from another style, am I considered a beginner?"Classical guitar can differ in many aspects from the electric or acoustic guitar. Being that you have already played guitar before you will have skills in some areas but other areas that need improvement. Therefore, I would recommend you to inscribe as a regular member and write me in the contact form which songs/pieces you've been working. If you happen to have links to any published video, please, write me the link, this way I can understand very fast what you will need to work from the very first lesson.
-
I consider myself an amateur guitarist, is this site too advanced for me?"This site is for you. I am quite passionate about teaching dedicated amateur guitarists because I believe that music has a wonderful effect on quality of life. It can bring joy, passion, goals, and focus along with a skill that you can share with others. I believe the dedicated amateur will get the most out of this site with its supportive and motivating atmosphere. You are certainly not alone here!
