Terms of Service

Terms of ServiceLast updated: 27 August 2026

Welcome to Merce Font Academy ("MFA"), operated by Merce Font, SLU, Andorra.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of mercefont.com, the Merce Font Academy, its online services, memberships, lessons, educational content, events, digital products and related services.

By purchasing, subscribing to, registering for or accessing any MFA product or service, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Merce Font Academy

Merce Font Academy provides online music education and related services, which may include:

  • Online individual music lessons

  • Recurring Academy memberships

  • Online workshops, Q&A sessions and events

  • Educational video and written content

  • Lesson recordings and replays

  • Practice materials and scores

  • Digital sheet music, transcriptions and downloads

  • Community features

  • Other educational services and products offered through mercefont.com

  •

The specific features included in each product, lesson or membership are those displayed on the relevant page at the time of purchase.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

Certain MFA services require a registered account.

You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.

Your account is personal to you. You may not share your login credentials, membership access, lesson recordings, Academy materials or other restricted content with another person unless MFA expressly permits it.

If a student is under the age required to enter into a contract independently in their country of residence, the purchase and use of MFA must be authorised by a parent or legal guardian.

3. Prices and Taxes

Prices are displayed on the website or checkout before purchase.

The total amount payable, including any applicable taxes, will be displayed before the transaction is completed.

The tax treatment of a purchase may depend on factors including the type of product or service, the customer's location, the applicable legislation and the payment or billing structure used for the transaction.

Where required, customers may be asked to provide information necessary to determine the correct tax treatment of their purchase.

MFA reserves the right to correct pricing or tax errors before completing a transaction.

4. Payments

Payments may be processed by one or more third-party payment providers.

Available payment methods may vary depending on the customer's country, currency, product and payment provider.

By making a purchase, you authorise MFA and/or the applicable payment provider to charge the payment method you have selected for the amount displayed at checkout.

MFA does not directly store complete payment-card details when these are processed securely by a third-party payment provider.

If a payment is declined, reversed, disputed or otherwise unsuccessful, access to the corresponding product, membership or service may be suspended until payment is successfully completed.

5. Recurring Memberships and Automatic Renewal

Certain MFA products are recurring memberships.

Unless expressly stated otherwise at the time of purchase, recurring memberships renew automatically at the billing interval shown at checkout until cancelled.

By purchasing a recurring membership, you authorise recurring charges to your selected payment method.

Membership fees are charged in advance for each billing period.

You are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method.

If a recurring payment fails, MFA or its payment provider may retry the payment. Access may be temporarily suspended or terminated if payment remains outstanding.

6. Cancelling a Membership

You may request cancellation of a recurring membership at any time.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law or stated for a specific membership, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.

You will normally continue to have access to the services included in your membership until the end of that period.

Cancelling a membership prevents future renewals. It does not automatically generate a refund for the current billing period.

Instructions for cancelling may be provided through your account, the relevant payment provider or by contacting MFA.

7. Membership Changes

MFA may occasionally introduce, modify or discontinue membership plans, features or pricing.

If the price of an existing recurring membership changes, MFA will provide appropriate notice where required before the new price applies to future billing periods.

Material changes will not retrospectively alter services already purchased for a completed billing period except where reasonably necessary for legal, technical or security reasons.

8. Individual Lessons

Individual lessons may be purchased separately or included as part of a membership.

Lessons are delivered online unless otherwise specified.

Students are responsible for:

  • Attending at the agreed time

  • Having a sufficiently stable internet connection

  • Having suitable audio/video equipment where necessary

  • Preparing any equipment, scores or materials required for the lesson

Any specific cancellation, rescheduling or no-show conditions displayed during booking or communicated to the student form part of these Terms.

Where a student fails to attend a scheduled lesson without complying with the applicable cancellation or rescheduling conditions, the lesson may be considered used.

If MFA or the relevant teacher must cancel a lesson, MFA will normally arrange a replacement or rescheduled lesson rather than treating the lesson as used.

9. Teachers

Certain MFA lessons may be delivered by teachers working with or through Merce Font Academy.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the student's purchase and membership relationship remains with MFA rather than with the individual teacher.

Teacher availability may change.

If a particular teacher becomes unavailable, MFA may offer reasonable alternatives, rescheduling or another appropriate solution depending on the circumstances.

Students may not use MFA services primarily to circumvent the Academy and independently contract teachers introduced through MFA in violation of any applicable agreement or Academy policy.

10. Workshops, Q&A Sessions and Events

Memberships may include access to certain workshops, Q&A sessions or other live events.

Event dates, teachers, subjects and availability may change where reasonably necessary.

Where recordings or replays are provided, their availability and duration may vary according to the relevant event or membership.

Failure to attend a live event does not normally entitle the customer to a refund where access to the event was included as part of an ongoing membership.

11. Academy Content and Educational Materials

MFA may provide access to videos, tutorials, lesson summaries, exercises, practice materials, scores, recordings and other educational resources.

Access to particular materials depends on the product or membership purchased.

Content may be updated, reorganised, replaced or removed as the Academy develops.

MFA will make reasonable efforts to maintain the services and content associated with active memberships but does not guarantee that every individual item will remain available indefinitely unless this has been expressly promised as part of a particular purchase.

12. Lesson Recordings and Replays

Certain lessons may be recorded so that the student can review them afterwards.

By participating in a lesson for which recording has been agreed or clearly indicated, you acknowledge that the session may be recorded for educational and service-delivery purposes.

Lesson recordings are intended for the student's personal educational use.

They may not be publicly uploaded, redistributed, sold, shared or commercially exploited without permission.

Where a product expressly includes long-term or lifetime access to a replay or resource, such access means access for as long as MFA continues to operate the relevant service and can reasonably maintain access to that material, subject to circumstances outside MFA's reasonable control.

13. Digital Products

MFA may sell downloadable or digitally delivered materials including sheet music, transcriptions, scores and educational resources.

Digital products are licensed for the purchaser's personal use unless another licence is expressly stated.

Purchasing a digital product does not transfer its copyright or intellectual-property rights to the purchaser.

Digital products may not be:

  • Resold

  • Redistributed

  • Uploaded to file-sharing platforms

  • Shared publicly

  • Republished

  • Copied for commercial distribution

  • Used to create competing commercial products

except where expressly permitted by law or by written permission from the relevant rights holder.

14. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the website, Academy platform, videos, recordings, lesson materials, graphics, text, exercises, educational systems, branding and other original MFA materials are owned by or licensed to Merce Font, SLU and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Purchasing a membership or product gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the material for its intended educational purpose.

It does not grant ownership of the material.

15. Student Materials and Copyright

Students are responsible for ensuring that materials they upload, send or share with MFA do not unlawfully infringe the rights of third parties.

MFA may use student-provided scores, recordings or materials as reasonably necessary to provide the requested lesson or educational service.

16. Acceptable Use

You must not use MFA services to:

  • Share paid or restricted Academy content with unauthorised users

  • Attempt to bypass membership or access restrictions

  • Interfere with the website or Academy systems

  • Copy or scrape substantial parts of the Academy library

  • Harass teachers, students or other members

  • Use MFA content for unlawful purposes

  • Misrepresent yourself or another person's identity

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another member's account

MFA may suspend or terminate access in cases of serious or repeated misuse.

17. Community Areas

Where MFA provides groups, forums, comments or other community functions, members are expected to communicate respectfully and constructively.

MFA may remove content or restrict participation where reasonably necessary to protect members, teachers, intellectual property, privacy, safety or the proper functioning of the community.

18. Educational Results

MFA provides educational instruction, guidance and resources.

Musical progress depends on many individual factors, including practice, attendance, preparation, experience and personal circumstances.

MFA therefore cannot guarantee a particular examination result, competition result, audition outcome, professional opportunity or level of progress.

19. Technical Availability

MFA aims to keep its website and online Academy available reliably, but uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed.

Temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, platform updates, internet failures, third-party services, hosting providers or other technical circumstances.

Where a serious technical problem materially prevents MFA from delivering a purchased service, MFA will make reasonable efforts to restore access or provide an appropriate alternative.

20. Third-Party Services

MFA may use third-party providers for services such as video hosting, video conferencing, payments, booking, email, website functionality or file storage.

Use of some features may therefore also be subject to the technical requirements or terms of those third-party services.

MFA is not responsible for outages or failures caused entirely by third-party services outside its reasonable control, although reasonable efforts will be made to assist where those failures affect an MFA service.

21. Refunds

Refunds and cancellations are governed by the separate Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

22. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

If you believe a payment has been made incorrectly, please contact MFA before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.

Fraudulent or abusive chargebacks may result in suspension of the associated account or services.

This does not prevent you from exercising legitimate rights available through your bank, payment provider or applicable consumer law.

23. Suspension and Termination

MFA may suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary because of:

  • Non-payment

  • Fraud or suspected fraudulent activity

  • Serious or repeated breach of these Terms

  • Unauthorised sharing or distribution of MFA content

  • Abusive conduct

  • Security concerns

  • Unlawful use of the service

Where appropriate, MFA will attempt to contact the affected customer.

Termination for serious breach does not necessarily entitle the customer to a refund.

24. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MFA is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the Academy or inability to access the service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

25. Changes to These Terms

MFA may update these Terms when reasonably necessary because of changes to the Academy, payment systems, services, legislation or business operations.

The current version will always be published on this website together with its latest revision date.

Material changes affecting an ongoing paid service will be communicated where required.

26. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Principality of Andorra, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that may apply to a customer under applicable law.

Where possible, the parties should first attempt to resolve any dispute directly and in good faith.
