A new edition has been added to the MF Editions catalogue:
Capriccio in B minor, Op. 76 No. 2 by Johannes Brahms, transcribed for classical guitar by Carlo Marchione.
Part of Brahms’ Op. 76 collection, this Capriccio presents a more articulated and restless character than his later piano works. The music unfolds through a series of shifting gestures, where phrases evolve and redirect, creating a continuous sense of motion.
Rather than relying on lyrical continuity, the piece is driven by rhythm and structure. Lines intersect, ideas transform, and the musical direction is constantly redefined without losing coherence.
This new transcription adapts the work to the guitar while preserving its clarity and energy. Through careful voicing and articulation, the arrangement allows the performer to navigate the piece’s changing directions while maintaining balance and precision.
A reference performance of the original piano version is included below.
